Here’s what Shareshot can do
We’ll update this list as new releases come out.
Framing
- Choose output aspect ratio from portrait, square, landscape and “Fit Frame”.
- Automatically frames screenshots only with pixel perfect-fitting frames. Images that don’t perfectly fit any of the frames will not be framed.
- Includes all Apple’s device frames by default, including landscape and portrait orientations where available for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Vision Pro and Apple TV.
- Alternative device colours are supported where available.
- Custom frame images can be added. Frame images must have a clear area overlapping the middle pixel, the exact size of the screenshot you want to use. Just open the frame image in Shareshot and follow the instructions.
- The framed results can be composited into a larger output image, or use “Fit Frame” mode to use exactly the size of the frame image only, unless adding a shadow in which case it will be extended to ensure the shadow is not clipped.
Importing Images
- Automatic opening of the most recent screenshot (when you have granted full access to your Photo library)
- Automatic detection of newly taken screenshots, with a prompt asking if you want to replace the current screenshot being used.
- Import from Screenshots folder in Photos
- Import from anything in Photos
- Import from Files
- Pasting from Clipboard. On iPhone and iPad tap “Import…” on the start screen or long press the preview image when editing. On Vision Pro use the document menu ornament at the top.
- Drag & Drop is supported for dropping images into Shareshot from other apps.
Exporting Framed Images
- Multiple output scaling resolutions are available — use 100% only when you need complete fidelity with the original screenshot as the images can be very large. 50% is recommended for most cases.
- Share via the system share sheet using the Share button.
- Dragging the preview image out into another app.
- Copying the preview image to the clipboard. On iPhone and iPad, long-press the preview image to access this option. On Vision Pro use the document menu ornament at the top
- Automatic export as lossless PNG by default, with an option in settings to use JPEG instead, except when the image has a clear background.
Styling
- Many gradient backgrounds are available, some with support for lighting effects.
- Custom image backgrounds can be added, selected from the Photos app.
- Using the current screenshot as a blurred background.
- Clear background.
- Special event backgrounds that will vary over time.
- Shadows can be turned on or off, as can the lighting highlight on backgrounds that support this.
- Shadows can be off, regular or large.
- Padding around the framed screenshot can be adjusted between nothing and three fixed levels.
- Alternative frames can be chosen if others fit, e.g. some iPad models share resolutions with other devices.
Automation
- “Frame last screenshot” App Intent for Shortcuts will take the last screenshot in your Photo library, frame it and add background and styling that you choose.
- “Open Shareshot with most recent screenshot” does what it says — a quick way to open Shareshot with the latest screenshot from within your own Shortcut workflow.
- “Frame Screenshots” will take any image files as input and attempt to frame and style them with the parameters you provide, giving you processed images ready for handing off to another action.
- “Frame Screenshots with a custom background” provides the same, but with the option to specific a custom background image.
- A Siri App Shortcut exists for “New Shareshot” and “Create Shareshot” which takes the most recent screenshot and opens it in the app.
Interaction
- Keyboard shortcuts are included for common actions.
- Trackpad and mouse support on iPad and Vision Pro.
